Exodus: movement of the people
The organisers of this weekend conference describe it as relating the story of migration from, to and within the British Isles.
It is being held at the 4 star Hinckley Island Hotel, Watling Street, Hinckley, Leics, LE10 3JA from 6th to 8th September this year.
The prestigious speakers include - for those of you who attended our Liverpool conference last year - Karl-Heinz Wüstner: speaking on "Sausages, Bacon and Pork Pies - Culinary Paths to Success for 19th Century German Immigrants". If you have German pork butchers in your ancestry and missed his talk then do come on the Saturday afternoon - even just as a day delegate - it was a cracking (or should I say "crackling"?) good talk.
Most of the time, during the conference, there are 2 talks to choose from: other speakers include Paul Blake, Else Churchill, Janet Few, Celia Heritage, John Hanson, Peter Park, John Titford and several from abroad who are coming here specially.
The website is www.exodus2013.co.uk - do have a look and book quickly as it's sure to be popular. Peter and Jenny Towey are going and are hoping to take the bookstall.
There are some extremely interesting articles on the website, too - well worth a look.
